Really Important Stuff
Hi, my name is Erin Gutierrez. I am a middle school counselor. I graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Latin and minors in English and Education from Sewanee: The University of the South. I also graduated summa cum laude with a MA in School Counseling from Lamar University. I live in Kingwood and graduated 3rd in my class locally from Sam Rayburn High School. My proudest achievement as a student was earning a full scholarship to university. My proudest athletic achievement was swimming in the US Games...a long, long time ago.
I have experience face to face and online with students from four-years-old to late adulthood. I have helped students pass AP exams and helped students advance their writing skills whether English Language Learners, G/T, or anywhere in between. I have worked at Houston Museum of Natural Science Summer Camp, Camp Lots of Fun, and G/T Summer Camp. I've coached swimming, Pentathlon, UIL Teams, and Academic Team.
I have been an educator for 17 years. During this this time, I have taught in Texas and Tennessee from 5th-12th grade. I taught Latin, Study Skills, English, and Reading and written curriculum for multiple organizations in on-level, ESL, Pre-AP, and AP courses. My proudest educator achievements were being nominated for a Disney Teacher Award and Teacher of the Year in my district.
I'm a married mom of three girls and two dogs who keep me young at heart. I enjoy extensive traveling and have seen five continents. I LOVE to read, craft, sew, and be with my family in my free time. You may find me in the early morning swinging in my hammock with my babies and books.
